A hybrid LED display comprises a number of individual LED chips placed in a particular pattern to form characters, matrices and analogue arrays. These are usually addressed as an x-y matrix utilising on board or discrete drivers. The number of LEDs used depends on the display application and can range from a single chip to many thousands.
A major reason for choosing LED technology is the reliability offered in the most demanding of environments. A carefully assembled and suitably packaged LED array can be employed in temperatures ranging from -55°C to +125°C, and can withstand severe shock, vibration, and humidity.
