PRP Optoelectronics have received a European Eurostars  funding  grant to enable a large-scale R&D project in partnership with Volvo Construction Equipment, based in Sweden.

The Eurostars Programme is a European Joint Programme dedicated to R&D performing SMEs.

Eurostars aims to stimulate SMEs like PRP Optoelectronics to lead international collaborative research and innovation projects by easing access to support and funding. It is fine-tuned to focus on the needs of SMEs, and specifically targets the development of new products, processes and services and the access to transnational and international markets.

Chairman and CEO, Robert Green, explains what this means to PRP:

“We view this as a real validation of PRP’s place in the international growth of LED technology and applications. Although we are a small company our products and skills are extremely specialised and valuable. It’s fantastic to have this recognised, not only by the Eurostars programme, but also by our partners in the project, Volvo. We’re extremely excited to start this project, and very positive about the potential technological outcomes.”

The project begins in September 2012 and is scheduled to complete in May 2014.
