#GettingToKnowSDI: Shining a light on innovation with @PRP Optoelectronics!
With a 37-year heritage, @PRP Optoelectronics joined the @SDI Group in February 2026, strengthening the Group’s capabilities in aerospace and defence.
Led by Managing Director @Kevin Peart, PRP is a close-knit team of 33, with a HQ in Swindon. They also operate a specialist LED engineering lab at the University of Southampton, where bespoke, cutting edge LED solutions are developed.
PRP focuses on niche, high-quality LED systems – never off-the-shelf products. Every solution is custom-built, with an in-house R&D team working closely with customers to design and deliver complete, tailored technologies. This end-to-end development capability is a key differentiator in a competitive market.
As a strong exporter, PRP serves a global customer and their technologies are trusted in mission-critical and demanding environments, particularly in defence applications such as fighter jet displays, and other advanced systems. Beyond defence, PRP also supports commercial aviation, industrial printing, and industrial UV sterilisation.
